TCND #048: Return to Atlanta

TCND_048On this very special episode of The Catholics Next Door, another mobile cast! This time, Greg and Jennifer drive around their former stomping grounds in Conyers, Georgia (where they lived for almost 15 years) and give you a soundseeing tour of areas they used to see every day — including their old house! Why the trip back? Well, Greg was invited to Atlanta to speak at the 19th Eucharistic Congress, and the whole family went with him. In addition to speaking at the Congress, it was also an opportunity to see both Greg’s and Jennifer’s parents, as well as for everyone to visit with old friends. Other topics discussed in this episode include the strangeness of automatic recall of roadmaps, dealing with forgotten memories, and more! .

TCND #046: Keeping Kids Busy During Summer

TCND_046Keeping kids busy during the summer is one of the biggest challenges we face on an annual basis.  This year we signed up at a local recreation center, and we’re already benefitting, but we’re still stuck on more ways to keep the kids busy during the summer.

In this episode we talk about ending another school year, and moving kids from elementary school to middle school, and moving another child from middle school to high school.  Plus we asked the question about how to help your teens find jobs during the summer.

Other topics discussed include feedback and recommendations for our upcoming speaking trip to Australia and New Zealand as well as an interesting conversation about St. John of the Cross’ Dark Night of the Soul.

TCND #045: Drawing a Line

TCND_045As soon as we finished recording this episode, Jennifer started crying. In some ways, recording this episode reminded us of a podcast episode we recorded in January 2007 after making a huge, life-changing decision. In that episode we shared with you all the backstory that went into our decision for me (Greg) to leave my career in the IT Industry and go full-time working for the Catholic Church through the Rosary Army and SQPN apostolates. It was a terrifying decision to make, but once we made it and shared it with you, we had a great peace.

For several months now (and possibly longer than that), we’ve been struggling with another decision we knew needed to be made. In this episode, we share that decision with you.

Additionally, we talk about our Sam’s first experience seeing Lindsey Sterling at his very first concert, and Greg shares the three things he believes are necessary for success in any endeavor, whether it be work, faith, or family.
