Rev. Dr. John Mulvey – Helping People with Sexual Addictions

si_UEw150_johns pictureThanks to Fr. John Mulvey for being on our show today to talk about the important issue of helping people overcome sexual addictions.

Father Mulvey is a priest of the Archdiocese of Newark, NJ, and has served clients around the United States and Puerto Rico as a family counselor for the past thirty years. He is the founder and director of “Just Between Families,” a successful pastoral therapy program for troubled families and youth. Additionally, Fr. Mulvey provides counseling for sex addicts who have fallen prey to pornography on the Internet. He is nationally known as a specialist in sexual addiction counseling, and has worked with sex addicts throughout the United States.

Fr. Mulvey holds a Doctorate in Pastoral Psychotherapy from the Graduate Theological Foundation at Oxford, Rome and Indiana, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, he holds a Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Seton Hall University.

He was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1962 and served as Associate Pastor in diocesan parishes in New Jersey. He later taught at local high schools and served as Guidance and Spiritual Counselor.

Subsequently he was assigned to Seton Hall University as Associate Director of Campus Ministry, Spiritual Director of the Athletic Department, and coordinated an exchange program between three universities in Puerto Rico and Seton Hall University.

His graduate studies include various disciplines in Counseling Psychology. He was supervised by Licensed Clinical Psychologists during training in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Father Mulvey has recently been awarded Diplomate status with the American Psychotherapy Association. Diplomate status is reserved for those individuals who are able to meet the stringent requirements of the APA in the areas of knowledge, skill,training and experience in the art and science of psychotherapy.
