movieposterI guess I’m a loser.

Our friend Erika Anderson, she of former Georgia Bulletin staff writer fame, posted this over on Facebook (you can find me there, as well as Jennifer). I thought it was amusing and funny, but apparently, I’ve wasted a great deal of my life.

SUPPOSEDLY if you’ve seen over 85 films, you have no life. Mark the ones you’ve seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own Facebook account or website, paste this as a note or blog entry. Then, put X’s next to the films you’ve seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun.

Now Add them up and…

Put “I’ve seen [however many] out of 239 films” in the subject line and repost it on Facebook or your blog. And for that matter, leave a comment here on our website and let us know how many you’ve seen!

And sadly, I didn’t count some movies I started to watch but didn’t finish, or if I’ve only seen parts of a movie. And even more sadly, there are a LOT of movies on this list I should have walked out of.

  • Woo! Blog shout out!

I know it hurt your heart to see I have never seen a Lord of the Rings movie, or an Indiana Jones one…and only one Star Wars. But you still called me your friend, here, so I feel better. 🙂

  • Yes, I was definitely sad for you. I feel like we should have you over under the auspices of dinner one weekend and instead force you to watch all of these movies back-to-back!

  • Only 71 for me… and that’s more than I thought it would be!
Probably only have seen 10 in the last 12 months… Of course, I would’ve added a few more had the Batman movies been listed or
many others I have seen over the years that weren’t listed…

I wish I had more time to relax and watch a movie more often.
We used to do it every Friday night when the kids were younger.
    We should start that again.

  • I’ve seen 35 of those list… I’ve seen a ton of other movies that aren’t on the list though…

    I must be pathetic…

  • 57 for me. I can’t get out to see new movies and I don’t rent DVDs or subscribe to premium cable channels like HBO. Nor do most newer movies appeal to me. However, my personal movie collection consists of nearly 800 VHS tapes and 300 DVDs, so I guess that makes me the biggest loser here. 🙂

  • 81! Definitely not a loser!

Never seeing a Star Wars movie, any of them, or Matrix helps avoid the “loser” label. But I do love me some Indiana Jones and Will Ferrell movies!

  • Oh my gosh… I need to get out more! I’ve only seen 70 of these films!! Although I must say I didn’t see any titles that I thought “Oh I REALLY REALLY want to see that!!”

  • Seriously Greg, you have never seen Miracle on 34th Street?
And we mean the 1947 version.
It is the only the best Santa Claus movie….ever!

  • Interesting…I’ve only seen 40 films on this list but like others have stated, tons of others not on the list. What criteria did a movie need to get on this list or was it just random? Curious minds would love to know…

  • @Joanne –

Honestly, since I got it from Facebook, it was probably created by some 15 year old kid!

Maybe we should make our own list of MOVIES YOU SHOULD SEE!

  • 107.

    @Joanne:

I agree. Not a good comprehensive movie list (many of them aren’t high-quality films at all). Where are the classics like “North by Northwest?” Yes, a new list is in order. 🙂

  • For Joanne and Greg:

Good idea Greg! Hey, I was at “The Day The Earth Stood Still” last weekend, and I saw three previews that caught my eye for 2009!! “The Spirit”, “2012”(hoping that’s only the title and NOT when it comes out!), and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”(give credit where credit is due, Marvel is pumping them out like a machine! I’m waiting for Wonder Woman and have Lynda Carter cameo as “Queen Hippolata”!

Gotta go! Last episode of “Heroes” for 2008 is on in ten minutes!

    Peace,
    Dan

  • I have seen 175 of the movies on the list. And to just think of all the movies on this list I’ve seen more than once .

  • 87 for me. Not as much of a loser as I thought. I can’t wait to see what David’s number is. I’m sure he’ll be in the loser category.

  • I got 151 – and I”m sure Mac could beat me – although where he’s seen all the Kill Bills and Predators, I’ve seen the Princess Diaries and all other girlie flicks.

  • 90 and I was disappointed as I consider myself well versed in films – classics and contemporary. But as has already been mentioned, depending on your “life experience” you could have made a list that tripled that list of only quality movies alone.

Turner just had a Joseph Cotton run the other night – Gaslight and Shadow of a Doubt among others – excellent. I know nerdlinger, I’m good with it.

  • 138 – I thought that it would be higher though.

I’m not a big horror fan, so that’s a whole genre off of the list.
